HOURGLASS BODY SHAPE

An hourglass is considered as ideal body shape. The upper and lower half of the body is approximately in-line with each other with a defined waist.

  • Hip-line and bust-line are fuller and are roughly of the same width. hourglass1
  • You have a well-defined waist.
  • You’d describe your body as curvy.

It is easier to dress an hourglass than other shapes but you still need to make sure of not selecting anything too stiff or else it will make you look squarish.

The best styling strategy is to make your waist as a focal point or show off your lovely lady shape. Wear anything that wraps tightly around the narrowest part of your waist or draws the attention to this part of the body.

  • Opt for full circle skirts or tulips skirts as they make your waist look even smaller. For curvy hourglass prefer A-line and pencil skirts.
  • Use a dark-colored belt wrapped around the narrowest part of the waist.
  • A-line dresses or similar cuts take care of working on the lower part of the body.
  • You have amazing curves and it’s time to embrace them in body-hugging silhouettes that fit you perfectly in all the right places.
  • If you want to slim your upper body and flatter your upper torso, wear a v-neckline.
  • This shape is perfect for structured, more tailored silhouettes. Everything from your most basic pieces to workwear-blouses should be fitted to show off your narrow waist.
  • There is a lot of flexibility when it comes to sleeve length. Elbow-length styles, cap sleeves.
  • Sweetheart neckline will help you flaunt your upper body.
  • Stick with mid-rise or high-rise pants.

You may have a secondary body type. For example, you have slightly fleshy upper arms that make your shoulder-line look wider therefore, this makes you lean a bit towards the inverted triangle. Or may you have a slightly fuller bottom that may require some tricks from the pear shape.

So, try to be flexible and follow the guidelines for both primary and secondary body types.

Style Confidence is equal to Self Confidence.
